Trump Executive Order on Tariffs

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order establishing new tariff rates on certain countries and extending the implementation deadline to August 7, 2025, to allow time for updates to the official tariff schedules. The new rates are expected to take effect for international shipments departing on their “final leg” after August 7, 2025. Below are the newly announced tariff rates for the countries primarily responsible for FIBC exports into the U.S. 

India: 25% Mexico: 25%* (90-day extension granted at 25% so negotiations can continue) *The tariff rates only apply to goods that do not comply with the USMCA China: 37.5% (Reciprocal tariff reduced to 10% for 90 Days. Expires August 12, 2025).
