Mineral Products Bulk BagS

Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs) are the go-to solution for transporting, storing, and handling mineral products at scale. FlexSack’s mineral products bulk bags are engineered for heavy loads, dust control, moisture protection, and safe discharge—whether you’re moving silica, kaolin, barite, perlite, or refractory minerals.

What Mineral Products are Commonly Shipped in FIBCs

Mineral Products cover a wide range of mined and processed materials used across construction, ceramics, chemicals, and industrial applications. Common examples include:

Silica/Quartz (silica sand)

Used in glass, foundry, and construction. Requires dust control and moisture management.

Kaolin (China clay) & Bentonite

Used in ceramics, paper, and drilling muds. Often shipped as fine powders or granules.

Barite (barium sulfate)

Dense mineral for weighting agents, oil & gas, and paint pigments.

Talc & Mica

Fine laminar minerals used in paints, cosmetics, and fillers. Requires dust containment.

Perlite & Vermiculite

Lightweight, porous minerals used in horticulture and insulation. Ventilated handling may be preferred.

Gypsum & Limestone

Core construction minerals used in cement, plaster, and soil amendments.

Refractory Minerals (wollastonite, alumina, magnesia)

High-temperature materials requiring abrasion-resistant handling.

Specialty Concentrates (iron ore fines, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide)

Dense or finely divided materials with specific handling needs.

Why Use Bulk Bags for Mineral Products

High Strength & Load Capacity

  • FIBCs are built to carry heavy bulk mineral loads safely and economically.

Dust Control & Cleaner Operations

  • Spout closures, dust-sealed discharge systems, and integrated unloading equipment reduce fugitive dust and improve plant cleanliness.

Moisture Protections & Product Integrity

    • Coated fabrics and high-barrier liners prevent moisture ingress that can damage minerals (clumping, chemical change) and harm downstream processes.

Efficient Handling & Stacking

    • Baffle-cut designs keep a square profile for stacking; standing lift loops make forklift/crane handling simple and safe.

Regulatory & Safety Options

    • UN-certified or anti-static/conductive FIBCs are available where required for certain mineral chemistries or environments.

Common Bag Types for Mineral Products

FlexSack offers a range of FIBC designs tailored to aggregate handling. Below are some of the most popular configurations.

Bag Type  Ideal For  Key Benefits
Baffle Bags  Silica, limestone, concrete-grade sand  Square profile for stacking and stable storage; maximizes pallet space.
Spout Top/Spout Bottom  Fine powders (kaolin, talc, barite)  Controlled fill/discharge with minimal dust escape—perfect for dosing and feed lines.
Duffle Top/Open Top  Gypsum, perlite, vermiculite, larger rock fragments  Fast loading for bulky or irregular material; inner liner option for dust control.
Ventilated Bags  Perlite, vermiculite, some soil amendments  Allow airflow to prevent moisture buildup while containing solids.
Heavy-Duty/Abrasion-Resistant Bags  Refractory minerals, ore fines, shaped aggregates  Extra-strong fabric and reinforced stitching for abrasive loads.
Liner-Integrated Bags  Hygroscopic minerals (molecular sieves, some clays)  PE or metallized liners provide moisture/oxygen barrier and contamination protection.

    Custom Solutions for Mineral Products

FlexSack offers custom mineral bulk bags tailored to your material and process: from abrasion-resistant fabric for refractory loads to metallized liners for moisture-sensitive minerals, reinforced loops for crane handling, and printed identification for inventory control. If you need UN certification, anti-static properties, or a specific fill/discharge configuration, we’ll design to match your plant and transport needs.

    FAQ

Silica sand (coarser) often performs well in baffle bags for stackability; talc (fine powder) benefits from spout-top/bottom with liners to control dust.

Use coated fabrics and high-barrier liners (form-fit or metallized) plus sealed storage—pallet covers and indoor storage further reduce risk.

Yes, ventilated bags are suitable for materials that benefit from airflow (perlite, vermiculate), but not for fine powders or materials that must be moisture sealed. Use liner-integrated bags for hygroscopic powders.

For abrasive minerals (refractory oxides, ore fines) or when frequent mechanical handling is expected, abrasion-resistant fabrics and reinforced stitching increase bag life and reduce tear risk.

Yes, custom printing, barcodes, and batch/lot numbering are available to support traceability and inventory control.
